Got Gabe’s report card this morning. We opted for the 8:15-8:30 am slot so we can leave for Manila early. The rest of his grades are good except for one that he has difficulty in doing: pronounces simple blends correctly, e.g. ma, me, mi, mo, mu. We realized that what was lacking boils down to one thing—his English.
We have to consider the fact that we had yayas, all coming from the province and doesn’t speak English, which gave us hard time teaching Gabe English. Also, Alex & I became lenient in talking in vernaculars in front of Gabe. So now, we decided that no matter how hard, we will implement English Zone only at home. Hope it’s not too late…
Nonetheless we are pleased with his grades overall. Alex reminded me, too, not to fret much since this is Gabe’s first grading ever. Well, a bonus was the teacher’s remark on the last page of his report card which reads works independently and takes pride in work done well; has a delightful sense of humor that is quite enjoyable in class.
